Private Pilot Grant Program

EAA Chapter 186 offers grants to individuals, ages 16-22 to achieve a private pilot or sport pilot certificate. The individual must complete flight training within two years from date of grant approval.

The grant offsets the pilot certificate by providing $2000 payable in four increments to the flight school used* for the following achievements:

  • $200 -- Upon completion of the FAA knowledge test.
  • $400 -- Upon completion of the first solo flight
  • $600 -- Upon completion of a solo cross-country flight
  • $800 -- Upon passing the certificate check ride*
(* Payable directly to the individual)

Anyone interested should complete the EAA Chapter 186 Private Pilot Grant Application and submit it to Shelia Swanson 3803 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22304 Ms. Swanson will make a recommendation and present the application to the chapter Board of Directors for consideration.
