14 CFR Part 91.161: Requires pilots to receive ADIZ "Special Awareness Training" if they plan to fly in the DC area. This rule goes into effect on February 9, 2009. The training is required for any pilot who flies under visual flight rules within a 60 NM radius of the DCA VOR/DME. This training has been developed and provided by the FAA on it's http://www.FAASAFETY.gov web site (click on "Aviation Learning Center" from the home page and look for the course titled "Navigating the New DC ADIZ.". Each pilot who is required to complete the training course should print and maintain a certificate of training completion from the same website (there is a wallet-sized version which can be kept along with your pilot certificate). You must register at the website to be able to complete the course and your completion of training will be recorded in the event you lose your training certificate. For more information, please contact Karen Arendt, FAA Safety Team Program Manager, 703-230-7664 x206.
