Jim Hill with Gil Coshland (Best Overall Chili -- People's Choice)
If you or anyone you know would be interested in using the space, e-mail Vance Wortman, or call him at (703) 250-3182. Rent is only $260 per month or $10.00 per day. The daily rate is great for catching up on those little maintenance items you've been meaning to take care of but didn't have a place to work. Use the workspace for one or as many days as you need. The workspace has an air compressor, vacuums, a drill press that's okay in a pinch, a metal lathe, a bending brake, a sturdy workbench and vise, another nice workbench and half a pool table for spreading things out, and some peg-board for hanging things up. Priority is normally given to the following uses for the workspace in order of appearance below:

If you will need a place to work on your plane within the next year or so, get on the waiting list right now by e-mailing Vance Wortman, or phone (703) 250-3182. Rent is $260/month.

Regular monthly doings, unless preempted by a holiday or a fly-in.
Business Meetings. The monthly Board of Directors business meetings are held at the chapter house on the first Wednesday of the month and start at 7 p.m. All chapter members are welcome to attend. If you have a proposal for a chapter project or event, this is the 'time and place' to present it for consideration. Please contact the chapter's president, Ginny Largent, (540-868-2698) about being placed on the meeting's agenda.
Coffee and Doughnuts Almost every Saturday throughout the year, the chapter house management provides coffee and doughnuts for volunteers and visitors who stop in. Contact chapter house manager Vance Wortman for details of any planned activities.
In December of 1998, EAA Chapter 186 had the opportunity to purchase space at the Manassas airport and did so. The chapter house operations are an ongoing experiment. The chapter house is laid out in two parts. One part is an insulated two-airplane hangar with a work area that can be heated or cooled. The other part is a more finished multi-use area that can be quickly adapted as need requires to serve as a meeting space, social hall, or classroom.
The chapter house boasts cooking and bathroom facilities, as well as a well-equipped, heatable workshop. These facilities are open to all chapter members.
Current uses include aircraft construction, flight testing operations, educational and social events. Most Saturday mornings are a combined social event and work party with fresh coffee and doughnuts.
Your chapter leadership is open to suggestions about how to use the chapter house more effectively and of course, you are invited to come out and "tour" the facility.
